Plastic Electronics

Plastic electronics, also known as organic electronics, utilises semiconducting plastics rather than traditional inorganic semiconductors such as silicon. Plastics are lighter, more flexible and potentially cheaper than than the traditional inorganic semiconductors normally used in electronic devices. Therefore, plastic electronics could help improve existing technologies, reduce manufacturing costs and open the door for many exciting new applications.

Plastic electronics has already been utilised to create thin flexible displays, electronic paper, organic LEDs and organic solar cells. The ability to print plastic electronics by inkjet or roll-to-roll processes promises high volume production at a low cost.

Smalltech Solutions has experience working with some of the worlds leading academic research groups and multinational companies on plastic electronics research and development.
